This composition is a bizarre nightmare. A chorus expresses statements of peace and war, but at various moments is interrupted by more sinister musical gestures; a trumpet, representing Death, acts as an interlocutor in the work. Nothing is stable for long. I was inspired to write this work from the tension and uncertainty of the world order in 2018. Statements of Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un, and Benjamin Netanyahu echoed in my mind.
